Group Description
The Divisional 6 group is designed for swimmers who have mastered foundational techniques and are ready to refine their skills for competitive performance. This group focuses on advanced stroke mechanics, endurance development, and building a strong competitive mindset.
Main Objectives
- Refine all four competitive strokes for efficiency and speed.
- Develop increased stamina and aerobic capacity.
- Learn advanced turns, starts, and underwater dolphin kicking.
Criteria
- Target Age: 11 to 12 Years as of March 15th (While the target age provides general guidance, swimmers aged 10 to 13 years may be considered to accommodate individual differences in growth, development, and experience.)
- Ability: Swimmers will be evaluated based on their top three Rudolph Point scoring swims. (Rudolph Points are a performance-based metric used to assess a swimmer's ability across various events. Please consult your coach or the Member Handbook for detailed information on Rudolph Points.)
- Commitment: Sustained Developmental Commitment (Developmental Commitment Rubric) Score: 25+
Equipment
Swimmers need to bring their own goggles, swimwear, kickboard, and fins. Specific equipment recommendations from your coach may apply.
Practice Schedule
3 X 75 Minute Sessions per Week (15 Minutes On Deck + 60 Minutes In Water)
1 X 105 Minute Sessions per Week (30 Minutes Dryland + 15 Minutes Change + 60 Minutes In Water)
2 X 105 Minute Sessions per Week (15 Minutes On Deck + 90 Minutes In Water)
Competition
Swimmers in the Divisional 5 group are expected to regularly participate in Swim BC sanctioned competitions, including Olympains All-Squad, Regional Development, Invitational, and Divisional level competitions. The focus will be on refining technical skills, learning fundamental race strategies, and contributing to a team environment.
Parental Commitment
At the Divisional level, it is expected that at least one parent from the family becomes qualified as Level 1 official.
Registration
Registration for Divisional 6 is year-long (September through July).

Important Notes:
- Additional Fees: Please note that Event, Competition, and Travel Fees, as well as costs for additional Team Uniform items and personal Training Equipment, are separate and not included in the program fees.
- Payment Methods: All fees must be paid online via credit card or pre-authorized debit. Please be aware of associated processing fees (Credit Card 3.1% + $0.40 per transaction; Pre-Authorized Debit 1.2% + $0.50 per transaction).
- Financial Aid: Information on external financial assistance options (e.g., Canadian Tire Jumpstart, KidSport, Athletics 4 Kids) and details on reducing fees through the Swim Challenge pledge program are available on our website and in the Member Handbook.
